![]() It now seems the norm for a good story to be stretched to 12 plus volumes and in the process quality is sacrificed. There is always a problem for epic fantasy writers to maintain the standard and at the same time balance the demand from publishers with deadlines etc. A poor, boring addition to a previously addictive and action-packed series. You'd think the Imperial Order had ceased to exist, their threat extinguished. It's slow, predictable and the characters have only made me yawn. I wouldn't mind if the story occupying such a length of the book was interesting, but it is not. Not a single main character has made an appearance, and only Richard has been remotely mentioned. ![]() Over a third of the way through the book and I'm wondering if this is really a Richard and Kahlan novel. ![]() This is not the case with The Pillars Of Creation. My memory is taken back to Soul of the Fire: I at first thought the side story in said book an irritable distraction from the main story, but it soon turned into excitement and, ultimately, a worthy and interesting side story. May, to be exact, and since the first page of Wizard's First Rule I've been hooked on the fast-paced stories. I only started reading the Sword of Truth series earlier this year.
